Location I generally chose a beautiful place surrounded by nature. This creates a relaxed atmosphere to make a mini session successful. This time, I’ve chosen the Schönbrunn palace in Vienna.
How do I prepare for a mini session? It is easy to photograph small families, however with bigger groups from more than 5 members I suggest organising a longer session of 40 minutes. It is important in both cases to pay attention to the photographers instrucctions, as the light varies during the day and I will take advantage of the best possible light. Duration: This mini session will last a maximum of 20 min. It is recomendable for families greater than 5 members to book a 40 min session instead.
What to wear?: You should be comfortable in what you’re wearing, but you should also wear something that perhaps isn’t your everyday clothing. Make sure it is impeccably clean and has no creases. If your garment is easily creased, do not wear it before the shoot, change just before so we can avoid the creases.
In advance of your photoshoot,I will suggest a colour range of clothes depending on your theme. However, there are a few guidelines that you should also consider when choosing the style of clothing: - LOGOS & PATTERNS – keep them subtle, or better none at all. In Summer, there’ll be pinks and greens in your background. They go together well with brown, white, mint green, olive, gray, turquoise and light blue.
- DON’T MATCH TOO MUCH – It is best to have a scheme of about 3 colours, not everyone needs to wear all the colours but everyone should wear at least one that another person is wearing. This can even be something simple like a hair band or an accessory like a bunch of flowers
- ACCESSORIES are fabulous, they help add colour to photographs and can give the photos a different look, from cardigans / hats and scarves, to jewellery but please keep watches and mobile phones away. Here are few photographs that I feel really help to understand the importance of colours and clothing in your photographs and how they can make everything ‘work’ to make the photographs more pleasing to the eye.
